Blog: David Hicks - Reflecting on 2018 and looking ahead to 2019With 2019 already well underway, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the achievements and successes of 2018 – I hope it proved to be a successful and productive year for you, your teams and organisations.

Another exciting year for agil8

It’s certainly been an exciting 12 months for us all at agil8. In addition to welcoming a significant number of talented new consultants and trainers to our already impressive network of Agile practitioners, we’ve continued to grow and expand our delivery provision – with a suite of training and consulting that covers the full breadth of Agile needs.

More and more of the very best Agile Trainers and Consultants in the UK have chosen to join the agil8 team, enabling us to provide more strength, breadth and depth of support to our clients.

Noticeable additions to our training portfolio include the new Advanced Scrum Certifications from the Scrum AllianceAdvanced Certified ScrumMaster, Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner and Certified Agile Leadership. We have also expanded our Kanban Portfolio to include the full range of courses Certified by Lean Kanban University.

Large-scale enterprise adoptions of Agile have become more commonplace, with many large traditional organisations attempting Agile transformation. The Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) has cemented its position as a firm favourite with such organisations, but those same companies are on very steep learning curves and have very ambitious goals. They need support to understand what really good Agile looks like and how to make the shift successfully, so we have expanded our training and consulting offerings in this area.

The addition of SAFe Programme Consultant (SPC) Andrea Darabos to the agil8 ranks, has enabled us to increase our SAFe training portfolio with more courses now available either as bespoke in-house events, or on our public schedule (including Weekend dates).

What can we expect from the next 12 months

The growth in the use of Agile practices outside of the more traditional Tech and Software companies and functions is a trend that has clearly become more prominent over the last 12 months.

This is something that we continue to experience first-hand, with an ever more diverse client base ranging from insurance and actuarial to infrastructure to cancer care, from business operations to marketing to HR. I fully expect this trend to develop further throughout 2019, and beyond.

We always pride ourselves on the ability to strip back the complexities of Agile practices and deliver training and consulting that can genuinely be applied to any organisation, operating in any sector. Therefore, as always our focus going forward will be to ensure that we continue to stay ahead of the curve and continue to provide the best expertise and guidance to empower and enable you to achieve your goals.

Looking ahead to 2019

It’s such an exciting time to be working within the Agile space but it won’t be without challenges, so if there is any aspect of your Agile practices, implementation or transformation that your struggling with, then please do get in touch with the agil8 team, and we’d be more than happy to discuss and advise how we can help.

We hope to see you again in 2019.
